Songs for Marianne

Lyrics

I’m a travelling man
Live in a small spot
In the blue world called the sea
Lay down my bed and I ask myself
Where else do I have to beI can’t help it
That’s my essence
I’m totally free
And it could be so alone
The fact that I don’t have a home
But I have you my friend
I have you to share
All my gold
All I seeAnd who knows what else we’re gonna meet
A new song is what guides me
Particular sounds to hearBut my radio is the ocean
Listen what the wave says
The great emptiness
I’m not afraidThat’s where I find myself
Mixed with cultures I’ve learned with everybody else
But still me

Lyrics

New broom sweep clean old broom now in the corner
Say on this rocky road of life be careful of strife
Be careful how you live your life
On the road of life off of you inside
You gotta know what you want in life
Gotta live upright with the golden mine
I gotta take you to the stress of timeNow you got to hold on
Hold on to what you‘v got
It’s my desire
My desire to burn this fire
And when the music play
I can hear artbeat saying
That you need a good friend
Like a sister or a brother

Live up ya people
Live up ya people

Gotta hold on
Gotta hold on
Gotta hold on
Gotta hold on

Lyrics

For what it’s worth my friend it’s never too late
To be what you wanna be, your fate is what you create
You can change or stay the same
There are no rules to this thing
You can always make the best of it
It’s never too late
No it’s never too lateSometimes you get restless
Sometimes you just can’t wait
Be patient and listen, your spirit will guide you always
You’ve heard this all before
You don’t need anything else at all
The answer is hidden inside of you
And it’s never too late
Oh so gather your children and find your purpose and place
Try to make a difference and join in this spiritual race
It’s such a small thing to ask
To make these changes last a while
It starts from deep within your heart
And radiates

And I hope you make the best of it
And I hope you feel things that you’ve never felt before
I hope you meet people with a different point of view
And I hope you live a life that you’re proud of and so much more
And if you find that you’re just not getting there
Trust in the music to guide you somewhere
And I hope you’ll find the strength to start over again
All over again

So I’ve come here to teach you this simple message of grace
Give thanks to the most high in every day that you’re awake
Show respect to your elders, and humble your ego or you’ll pay
Enlighten your conscience, and practice forgiveness always
Be a positive influence to all
No matter how big or small it is
The medicine grows inside of you
And it radiates

Oh you just gotta have faith
Your fate is what you create
Oh it radiates
Yes it radiates
Oh it radiates
It radiates

Verse 1
Well, it’s the most beautiful feeling when you not sitting steering
and the wind in the sail is not blowing a gale and you heading the right way
Then along come a Yachtie rich and snotty
he talk a lot what he got oh and where he going but he don’t know

Chorus
All you need is a sunshine
all you need is a good time
What they say no we don’t care we’re on a Slow Boat to Africa

Verse 2
Pulls up in his plastic cat he says “Ey man, how you sail around in that?”
All you seeing is rust stains and bust up outboards….
He’s got a lot of fancy gear but he dont know how to steer,
He’s got electric winches, a machine for the dishes and a telephone he calls his wife at home he says:
Oh honey its hell out here
Oh honey I miss you dear
Oh theres waves everywhere
Oh honey I’m so scared

Chorus
All you need is a sunshine
all you need is a good time
What they say no we don‘t care we’re on a Slow Boat to Africa

Rather be on a dreamer than a million dollar screamer,
smoking spliffs and eating fish and on a slow boat to Africa
Slow boat to africa x 3
We’re on a slow boat to Africa…
Africa, Canada, Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu baby we do what we wanna do.
All you need, all you need is a good time
We dont care what they say we’re on a slow boat to Africa
To Africa. Africa. Slow boat to Africa

All that I’m leaving here
Are things that no longer fit in my bag
Not that they don’t weigh much more than the rest
It’s more that I don’t feel like taking them on

Cos, where I’m going they don’t send the mail
Ah I might send you my thoughts with a smile
But like I said baby don’t hold your breath

Lyrics

Verse 1
Across the savanna and under the willow tree
Where time paints stories in sun across the sky
A town made of tin, that blows over
in sand storms into open lands
Where everyone’s hands are rough

Chorus
Now I’m fifty hundred thousand feet across the sea
Now I’m fifty hundred thousand feet across the sea
I wonder if anyone will remember me
Now that I’m fifty hundred thousand feet across the sea
Now that I’m fifty hundred thousand feet across the sea

Verse 2
Eucalyptus cactus on my jog as the sun sets
I run through the farmer’s land at the end of town
Looking up at the expansive sky
never seen it shine like this before
Open up my arms and pray it’ll never change

Chorus

Bridge
I wish I could say more I’d give you all my memories of the two towns
What I am digging for is a word to describe pure paradise
I wish I could say more I’d give you all my memories of the two towns
What I am digging for is a word to describe pure paradise
I wish I could say more
I wish I could say more
I wish I could say more
I wish I could say more

Clarinet: Martin Grozdanoski – https://www.facebook.com/martin.grozdanoski.1
Cello: Captain Ben
Bass: Smutje Hannes

Lyrics

Verse 1
I know all of your sorrys, every single one
Not unlike of first story, coy conversations and rum
I like to meet you in the morning, the night is just as fun
Love, point blank in the barrel, barrel of a loaded gun

Chorus
Tell me would you do this for me, ignore me,
Tell me that you love me crazy, baby
Cause you get what I’m saying when I’m quite
Would you rip my shirt babe, start a riot
You can try but you can’t keep me silent
Love it how I shake when you get violent

Verse 2
I wear your shirts when I’m alone
To feel like I’m inside
Past the flesh and through the bone
Near the place our souls reside
Well I can’t be sure of much
But a millennia’s gone by
Since the first time that I drowned in the ocean of our eyes
Your eyes
Your eyes
Your eyes

Chorus
Tell me would you do this for me, ignore me,
Tell me that you love me crazy, baby
Baby
Love me crazy
Baby

Lyrics

Lazy afternoon, don’t you end too soon
Make room, make room, for two, for two
Vagabonds with nothing to do, but
Bask in your glow, taking it slow
Don’t go, don’t go

While we still got your light
here’s our chance, here’s our chance
Honest little dandelions
Make our shadows dance, our shadows dance.

Lazy afternoon
Don’t you go anywhere, anytime soon.

We’re not going anywhere, anytime soon. Side by side till night.

Pelo vão da tarde

Me escondo e seco em você

Meu veneno é ser do carnaval
Eu saio pra ver o dia nascer e tal

Lyrics

Verse 1
So sing it out loud my sweet memories
And see how the love she has grown
You see my faith and my courages well has run dry
And my fingers are worked to the bone
I believe in a future that’s tattered and torn
And I know in my heart cause she’s heavy like stone

Chorus
So I’ll ride, ride, ride into the night
I’ll ride, ride, ride in this pale moonlight.

Verse 2
So shiver me timbers this world has grown odd
Take me back to a time before demons and gods
When loves all it took to make the planet revolve
And wisdom was measured from stories of old
I’ve seen things that would make most men go weak at the knees
But still my love stays strong after all of these years

Chorus
So I’ll ride, ride, ride in this pale moonlight
I’ll ride, ride, ride into the night.

Bridge
So lead me beside the still waters my friend
And restore my weary soul from this day till the end
For she art with me in this life and the next
Oh Beth Oh Beth

14. Nocturne

David Cowen aufgenommen in seinem Haus in Chicago
